Power Poppy July Release ~ Day 3

Howdy Power Poppy Peeps!!  I can't believe we're already up to Day 3 of Power Poppy's July Release!!  I hope you've enjoyed seeing what the Bloom Brigade's been sharing and have been able to add to your Marcella Hawley floral collection.  I know I treasure all mine, and this Countryside Bouquet is no exception.  The fact that this collage of flowers has California Poppies in it, might have just pushed this over the top for me.  We literally have hillsides covered in these flowers in the spring, and it looks like God just took an orange paint brush and just splattered the hills!!  It's a sight to behold I tell ya!!

Power Poppy July Release ~ Day 2

Hello friends!!  It's Day 2 of our Power Poppy Release and we have a beautiful Geranium digital image to share with you today.  I admit, I am used to seeing and growing red geraniums, but I thought I would google them and see if there weren't any other varieties.  I was pleased to see a Salmon Colored image so I went with that.  I also used the image as a reference for the leaves, because some geraniums have a distinct leaf color pattern.  The sentiment doesn't come with this release....I cheated and included it a day early....shhhhhh  I just thought the font style fit beautifully with this image.  I realize geraniums aren't the "wildest" of flowers, but hey....even us simple folks can bloom wildly....right?  ;)

Now, for some more inspiration, head on over to the following Bloom Brigade Blogs:

Play Ball with Power Poppy

It's time for another opportunity to be our next Power Poppy Peep of the Week.  For details on how you can participate, click HERE.

A few of the Bloom Brigade have some inspiration to share today using whatever stamp set inspired them that week.  I chose to use the Play Ball set because I hadn't had an opportunity to color that beautiful baseball collage yet.  What a beautifully designed image.  Marcy makes it super easy to color with her perfectly placed shadows and highlights.  I used a TON of Copics to color the image, and Popped up each layer with dimensional tape.  I have 3 layers with just the image.  Super fun!

I also created my own wood grained background.  I took 5 1 1/2" strips of Kraft card stock and ran my Onyx Black and Smokey Gray Versafine ink pads directly onto the Kraft.  I then took my White GK pigment ink pad and ran it over the panels to give a slightly white-washed look.  I did the exact same thing to my diecut star.  After the panels were inked, I laid them at a diagonal over a 5" square piece of Kraft cardstock, alternating colored panels, and glued them to the piece.  Then, just turn it upside down and trim off the excess.  It's super quick and easy.

That's it for today's project.  For some more inspiration, stop in for a visit at the following Bloom Brigade Blogs:

Here' the long list of Copics I used:  E59, E57, E55, E53, E51, E50, E39, E37, E33, T7, T5, T3, T1, C7, C5, C3, C1, R89, R39, R29, R27, R24

Now, a quick description of my card.  I decided to stamp the Lavender sprigs onto vellum and color them with Copics.  Now, they don't blend well on vellum, and you have to heat set the ink (Tuxedo Black, Memento) before coloring.  So be conservative with the coloring.   You also have to use much darker colors in order for them to show on the vellum.  I like the soft overall look though.  I stamped the sentiment "Thanks Bunches", with Smokey Gray Versafine ink, directly onto the decorative paper.

Copics:  BV13, BV08, G96, G85

Need a little inspiration to get those creative juices flowing? Be sure to stop on by and see what these lovely ladies on our Bloom Brigade created this week!

Doesn't this sound like fun!!!  I hope you'll join in!  We'd love to see what you do with these gorgeous images!!

Congrats on your new home...

Hello my creative friends!!  I have a card to share with you that is dear to my heart.  My son is moving this weekend to a new home which he will share with his bride when he gets married this Fall.  We are so proud and excited for him.  We adore his fiance.  However, being from California, you can imagine our literal SHOCK that he would choose to move to "cold country".  That's just a little bit crazy in my book.  (sorry to all my Midwest friends...I love ya...just couldn't live there again.)  So, I decided, since I'm so far away, I thought I would put together a housewarming care package and include one of my "made from the heart" cards.

I was inspired by Monday's TLC484 challenge over on Splitcoaststampers.com.  We were to fill up our backgrounds using border punches or diecuts.  So, I took an EK Success border punch and created the lattice/basket weave type background and added some tags that were die cut using WMS's Stitched Tag Cutting Edge die.  The sentiments are from WMS's Gift Card It stamp set, and the little house is from the Alpine Christmas set.  I stamped it, along with the sentiments with Versamark, and embossed them with white to represent the cold and snow.   I figured I would let him know that we still love him, even though he's moving to the tundra.

That's it for today's card.  I hope I've inspired you to get crafty today!
Have a fun and fabulous week!!
And...
     Happy Stamping!!

Power Poppy June Release!!

It's finally here!!  Power Poppy Release Day has arrived!!  You can now purchase these new sets:  Lavender, Play Ball, Sassy Succulents and Dynamic Duo: Peonies and Tulips

Here to tempt you once again, is a card I made using one of the Lavender images!!  I LOVE the rustic can and the wildflower feel to this image, so I wanted to make the card really rustic.  I stamped the image, onto Kraft card stock, with Tuxedo Memento Black ink, and colored it with Polychromos pencils.  I then distressed the edges with some Gesso.  I die cut it with the Large Deckled Rectangle die (Spellbinders), and mounted it against a brick backdrop which I created by brayering white pigment ink onto Spellbinders' Brick M-Bossibilities folder and ran it through my Grand Calibur.  Lastly, I added some felt flags, a die cut "Happy Birthday" sentiment (Spellbinders), a doily and button.

That's all folks!!  But there's more inspiration to be viewed.  Here are the links to the fabulously talented Bloom Brigade:

I hope you've enjoyed the previews this week.  Thank you so much for your warm and encouraging comments.

         Happy Stamping!
